I started teaching marching band the fall after graduating high school and continued to do so for a very long time! I technically still teach a few times a year, but I do not do it for a living like I have in the past. Over the years I held many positions, the most involved being the Percussion Director at Joliet West High School, and my favorite being a split between being a Quad Tech for any drum and bugle corps, and being the battery arranger for Pi Percussion. Being a quad tech is awesome because you get paid to teach 3-5 students while on the road touring the country. The section is small so you get to actually know your students and teach them some of the more nuanced things that come with playing quads (like tuning them to sound really good!).Â
