Secrets of Bosnia was a Design project that had the requirements of providing a full user interface prototype, but doing so without color. This is a very useful exercise in understanding value as it relates to visual hierarchy. When you can create intuitive and elegant user interfaces without the use of color you get the ability to direct that color wherever without worry of the interface no longer reading. The values can guide the color grading process.
I would like to possibly revisit this project someday with the addition of adding a color theme picker in the options menu. This prototype would feel more complete with the ability to view it in grayscale, in preset color themes, or letting the user adjust dynamically and watch changes in real time.Â
