In 2020, I decided I wanted to put together a disc golf tournament for my local community that catered towards being fun, non-competitive, and to raise money for improving our local course. It was an outlet for me to do some custom course design on top of the existing courses. I put together an easy but tricky 24 hole "Safari" layout at one of our most difficult courses. The outcome was a bunch of fun "carnival" golf and 94 happy community members!
We ran a raffle and were able to raise about $900 dollars for updating and replacing the tee signs at the course we held the event at. This was a very fulfilling event to run as the community had expressed interest in a cheap and fun event, rather than the usual highly competitive and expensive events that our community was known for.
If you are wondering, I made the map in excel by overlaying a google earth birds eye view of the area and manually! There are also custom tee signs for each hole that I made. I got a lot of level design experience from iterating on and presenting custom disc golf holes to my friends and other community members over the years.
In 2021, I wanted to continue in the style of of course design we did the year prior, but instead make a more competitive experience for those who want it. The Funk 2 was a multi course, multi day event featuring a players party at the one of the local private courses with camping onsite overnight.Â
Trinity Links was used as day 1 Safari course and then used that evening for the player party. Day 2 featured some of the tougher holes from The Funk at the original Funk course, with additional changes to provide more challenge and less gimmick. The player party was a lot of fun and this had much larger payouts than the year prior.

In 2021 I found myself with no job and COVID stopping me from being able to teach music so I started using YouTube as an outlet for teaching. I made a small collection of instructional videos on disc golf technique. Each video is shot in a single take and the audio is usually poor, but the information is solid and built on years of learning disc golf from others, and learning through my own practice. It is presented in a way that should reinforce these concepts, as it is taught using the same methodologies in which have taught music my entire life. I may get back to making these instructional videos eventually, the YouTube market is currently over saturated with lackluster disc golf instruction content and my lack of time to play at all due to school have kept me from making more videos. This is my most popular video, a comprehensive lesson on how almost all professional disc golfers will build the foundation of their throws.
